On the 28th of May, RTU ITI researchers successfully organised a maritime cybersecurity escape game (CyberEscape) for the maritime pupils of the RTU Latvian Maritime Academy. Participants were divided into groups and each group had the opportunity to step into the role of an incident management team at a fictional port. During the game, participants had to look for clues and discover hidden incidents.
The team that did the best job of filling out the incident report was rewarded with a small prize.
Before the game participants watched informative videos prepared by the researchers, covering incident management and common maritime cybersecurity threats. The pupils also had the opportunity to play an interactive 2D learning game developed by a bachelor’s student. The 2D learning game introduces the user to real maritime cybersecurity incidents and asks the user to make decisions and resolve the situation based on security best practices.
Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to the winners!
